The Miss Carbon County Organization is hosting a Send-off Party for Miss Carbon County Outstanding Teen, Skylynn Basso on Saturday, February 22 at 3:00 pm. The community is invited to attend this party at Mont Harmon Middle School as she prepares for the state pageant at the end of the month.

“It is February 27, 28 and 29, we will be doing talent, interview, fitness and evening gown,” said Basso. The Covey Center in Provo will be the location of the state pageant where 41 girls from around the state will compete for the title of Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen.

Basso was crowned Miss Carbon County’s Outstanding Teen in August of last year. “My platform is called Let Your Dreams Be Your Wings, and I am helping little kids follow their dreams going through change,” stated Basso. She makes various appearances at local schools in the community to talk to children about following their dreams.

At the Send-Off Party guests will get a sneak preview of what Basso has prepared for each area of competition.  “I’m not sure if I’ll be doing my talent there yet because I just recently fractured my foot so I am not sure if I’ll be doing by talent there but I hopefully will be doing by talent, fitness, and on-state questions and then a couple of guest performances,” said Basso. She has been involved in dance since the age of 2 years old, so it’s only fitting that her talent is a contemporary dance number entitled Dream.

Basso is the daughter of Jory and Karen Martino-Basso and currently attends Carbon High School where she is a sophomore. She plans to attend a university after high school to major in Animal Science focusing on Marine Biology with a minor in Costume Design. Basso is looking forward to representing Carbon County in a positive and graceful manner at the state pageant.
