The Lady Dinos softball team face the Lady Spartans in the softball season opener in Price. Carbon jumped out early with three runs in the first and had no trouble finding offense as they took the win 11-1.

The Dinos came out swinging as they scored three runs in the first inning. The Spartans would answer with one run in the second, but it was all Carbon after that as they would go on to score in the third, fifth and sixth innings.

Carbon would send Brooke Moosman to the mound and she would go two innings allowing one hit and one run while striking out three and walking one. The win in this one would go to Tenley Madsen, who went four scoreless innings striking out eight and walking three.

Offensively, Amya Prettyman registered three runs on two hits with one RBI. Gianna Bruno would add two hits, including a home run, while getting two runs and two RBI. The Dinos showed what they could do with their bats as seven players collected hits in this great team effort.

Emery pitcher Kaylee Price would go just over one inning giving up four runs on five hits while striking out three. The loss went to Braileigh Clark who went four innings giving up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out two and walking two.

Offensively, the Spartans  had no answer for the Dinos firepower collecting one hit off of the bat of Arilyn Allred and getting one run.

These two teams will face each other again on March 27 on Emery’s home field in Castle Dale.
