The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce wanted to let folks know how they can support businesses in the area with ongoing efforts to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus.
“So, what the restaurants are doing is a lot of them are doing curbside or they are now delivering. If they have a drive-thru window you can go through the drive-thru and still order your food. But most of them are getting creative, if they didn’t have the option before for prepay or pay online but now, they’ve got that up and going,” stated Executive Chamber Director, Deserae Stevenson. Those merchants that are now offering prepay or pay online services are bettering their businesses practices during a very difficult time.
Purchasing gift cards or gift certificates is another great way to support a business such as hair salons and gyms. “You can go and buy your gift cards; you know get it done later but pay for it now so that’s not putting that salon or the people who are doing your hair at risk of maybe not being able to do that anymore. Those businesses rely on that to keep going and to keep moving forward because if they don’t have it there’s a possibility that maybe they close their doors and when this is all over, they don’t re-open,” said Stevenson.
Most of the local businesses are reaching out to their customers via social media as Stevenson explains, “You know if you have a special place, whether it’s a restaurant or a salon or retail you know they’re posting what they can do on their Facebook page and as the chamber sees it we’re posting it to our Facebook group. You know we are trying to help get everything into one area and this is going to be just chamber members we are looking at, we’re looking at every business because right now we need to stand together.” If your business is making special accommodations for customers but you don’t have social media you can contact the chamber office at (435) 637-2788 to let them know what your business is doing during this time.
