Clyta Chidester Richens, age 87, returned home peacefully to her Heavenly Father on March 23, 2020.

Clyta was born on November 13, 1932, in Lehi, Utah, to James Orvill and Sarah Beth Chidester. She was the oldest of 4 children. She married Alfred Richens on August 13, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Alfred and Clyta spent 67 wonderful years together.

Clyta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in which she served in various callings including, the Ward Relief Society Presidency and Ward Primary Presidency. She was also an Ordinance Worker at the Manti LDS Temple for 15 years.   Clyta was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She always looked forward to the activities with her fellow DUP members.

Clyta worked as a librarian for many years at both Reeves and Creekview Elementary schools where she enjoyed helping and interacting with the children. She liked walking with her friends, water aerobics, and flower gardening. Anyone who knew Clyta knows that her irises, peonies, and roses were her pride and joy. Nothing, however, was more important to Clyta than family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clyta is survived by her loving husband, Alfred, Price; daughter, Claudia (Jim) Blackburn, Cottonwood, UT; sons, Steven (Suzy Stokes) Richens, Orangeville; Paul (Lisa) Richens, Price; five grandsons, Thomas (April) Blackburn; Jared Blackburn; Brenton Blackburn; Lance Richens; and Nathan Richens; four granddaughters, Stephanie (Curtis) Huitt; Kayla (Dakota) McArthur; Ashley Richens; and Jordyn Richens; seven great grandchildren, Kylee, Leah, Jinger Rose, Zayda, Brody, Brooklyn, and Breelle; and two sisters, Helen (Arvin) Rudd and Elizabeth Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Nyron Chidester; and two infant daughters, Irene and Ruth Ann.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 26, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.
