Eugene Jay Martino (Jay) sunk his last earthly putt on March 25, 2020. He was born on October 12, 1926, in Sunnyside, Utah to John and Rose Martino as one of 7 children. The family later moved to Hiawatha, Utah where Jay attended school.

Jay worked as a delivery boy for Price Trading Center until enlisting in the United States Navy., where he served for 2 years in the Asiatic Pacific American Area. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Carbon County where he courted and married Donna Gentry Martino. Jay worked for several years at Redd Motors in Price. Jay and Donna were the proud parents of three children, Lyn, Tracy, and Lane. Jay owned and operated Jay’s Conoco on Main Street. He then sold mine bits for Carmet and served as the district manager for American Mine Tool, until his retirement in 1988.

Jay enjoyed retirement to the fullest. He was able to fish, camp, and extend the golf season by a few months as he and Donna made the annual trip to Yuma Arizona until Donna’s death in October of 2003.

In 2004 Jay began a new phase of his life with Barbara DuVall. They met in Yuma and became inseparable. They enjoyed their winter home, summers in Price, and each other’s company. Jay loved Barb’s kids like his own, and always looked forward to their visits.

We all discovered that Barb is a living angel that is evidenced in everything she says and does and by always putting others needs before her own. She pampered Jay day and night, and when his health failed, she cared for him with the utmost compassion and love. Jay often told Barb that she was the best thing that ever happened to him and reminded her several times a day how much he loved her.

Jay is the last of the original Martino family and is survived by Barb, and her three daughters Sandy (Jack), Jackie (Dave), and Terri (Tim), and their children and grandchildren. His three children Dona Lyn Martino, Price, Tracy, deceased, (Lois) Heber, Utah, and Lane (Kim) Price, Utah. Grandchildren Christopher Martino, Gentry Martino, Danielle (Mark) Hardy, Karlee (Max) Champlin, Chad (Hailey) Martino, Colton Jay (Laramie) Martino, and Lillian (Gerritt) Bradley, and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son Tracy, and many of his “old friends”.

Special thanks to the staff of Symbii and the Good Life Center.
