The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center is still open and taking extra precautions during this pandemic. Executive Director, Shelley Wright took some time to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio to discuss their services.

“The doors are staying open. We have a few extra steps we’ve taken just to be safe and to protect our staff and the children that we serve and to protect the community,” said Wright. “For number one, as the families call in and they need to use us, they will be asked certain questions related to any illnesses. They will be checked for fever as they come into to the center. But other than that, we’re still taking them, it’s going to be a case by case situation.”  The organization is having to be a bit stricter than usual with its intake procedures in order to keep everyone safe and healthy.

The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center are two entities that work under one roof.  “The Family Support Center is where you really bring in your children in to be cared for, for emergencies, crisis care, respite care, shelter care. The Children’s Justice Center is where you bring in your children if there is an investigation of child abuse or if your child needed a medical evaluation because of a child abuse situation,” explained Wright. Since 1996 the Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center serves the community by helping children and their families build stronger and healthier relationships.

The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center is located at 80 South Fairgrounds Way in Price and can be reached at (435) 636-3739. “We’re still there to serve you and we’re just going to be asking a few extra questions. We ask that parents be honest in letting us know if their kids have been sick. Unfortunately, we would have to turn them down but we really need to protect our staff as well because if our staff gets sick and we have to quarantine, then the center would be closed down,” stated Wright.
