Donetta Brown Rich passed away on March 29, 2020 peacefully in her home in Price Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old and had fought a courageous battle with cancer for six years. She was born on November 16, 1944, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Don H. and Betty S. Brown. Her father Don was serving in Europe during World War II, when she was born. Donetta didn’t get to know her father until she was almost 2 years old, because of his service in WWII. Donetta spent her growing up years in Vernal, Utah where she graduated from Uintah High School in 1963. After graduation, she attended beauty school in Salt Lake City until becoming a Licensed Beautician in 1965.

Donetta met her true love, Kirt Rich, in Vernal when they were teenagers. They dated for years and married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 24th, 1966. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. At the time of their marriage, Kirt was attending Weber State College. After graduation in 1968, they moved to Seattle, Washington, where they lived for 4 1/2 years. They moved to Price Utah in the fall of 1972, where Craig Smuin and Kirt joined forces to form a C.P.A Firm. It was a joyous time because Donetta moved to the same town where her sister Maurine Smuin lived. They loved spending time together and both Donetta and Maurine enjoyed their frequent, if not daily, get away to Sherald’s for a soft drink and a good visit.

Donetta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had unwavering faith. She was a fantastic homemaker and her home was clean, organized and welcoming. She always said, “everything has a home, when you’re done with it, put it back then you’ll always know where it is”. Donetta was a huge BYU Football and Utah Jazz fan. She loved watching their games and cheering them on, even if they didn’t win. Donetta enjoyed reading a good inspirational book and loved to share its message. Later in life, she enjoyed staying connected with friends and family on Facebook. Donetta enjoyed family vacations, family reunions, and any activity that brought the family together. She loved a good card game with family. She was a great example to her loved ones and she wasn’t afraid to express her opinion when she thought they might need a little course correction, whether they wanted it or not.

Most of all, Donetta loved her husband, family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donetta always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, ordinations and any special occasions of her family. They could expect a card with a loving message and something special inside. All of her family dearly loved their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Donetta is survived by her immediate family husband Kirt Rich, children Mark and (Vicky) Rich of Vernal Utah, Nancie and (Robert) Cave of Green River Wyoming, Ginger and (Tony) Ferderber of Perry Utah, Dustin and (Megan) Rich of Price Utah, Nicole and (Jay) Clark of Bountiful Utah, Raquel and (Stan) Jewkes of Perry Utah. Donetta and Kirt have 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Donetta was preceded in death by her parents Don H. and Betty Brown, sister Maurine Smuin, daughter Michelle Rich and grandson Blayne Rich.
