One night after topping Union, the Helper Merchants blasted through Tooele with a dominating 13-1 victory Thursday night at Ernie Gardner Field in Helper.

Moving to 2-0 at the Helper American Legion Tournament, the Merchants took care of business in all aspects of the game. Thursday’s performance places the team one win away from securing a spot in Saturday night’s championship.

“This was a complete team win,” said manager Dakota Cisneros. “I thought our guys had great approaches and the plate and played near perfect defense all night.”

Jordan Fossat delivered a gem from the mound, earning the win as he allowed just one earned run in four innings of action. Fossat helped his own cause offensively by ended 2-4 at the plate.

Keaton Rich continued his steady play in the box as he ended 1-2 with two RBIs and a double. Wyatt Falk also brought in two runs as he recorded a double. Both Rylan Hard and Jacob Vasquez logged one hit a piece.

“I couldn’t have been happier with the way we played,” Cisneros added. “If we play that every night we are going to be a very tough team to beat.”
