Price City Council Member Terry Willis is a mountain biking fanatic and enjoys riding the local trails in and around Wood Hill. She was gracious enough to take some time from her busy schedule to come into Castle Country Radio to talk about the Wood Hill Trail System.

“Well its actually existed for well almost 20 years, the original trails, of course, were on private land and they still exist but there’s constantly new trails being built. In the past, about four years ago, now, we put a new trailhead up that’s on public land and connector trails to make sure that you can get to all the trail systems that are up there,” explained Willis. Several of the trails are clearly marked and enthusiasts ride those trails on a daily basis.

Most of the trails have been mapped out as Willis explains, “It’s quite a bit more mapped out, we’re continuing to sign different junctions, we’re still a little lagging behind that but for the most part, it’s a pretty easy trail system to follow. You won’t get lost off the trails, you may start to get into something a little more difficult, you can always turn around and head back that way you came.” Cyclists will be able to follow the trail quite easily with the current mapping system and signage.

There is a trail that is less strenuous that is close to Castle Heights called the Butch Cassidy Trail System that links into the Wood Hill Trail System. “There’s plenty to do. There’s some easy riding along Butch Cassidy especially in the bottom part, some of the Luke’s and Bill’s is great for beginners, its doesn’t have any rocky climbs, doesn’t have any steep pitches to ride.  But the majority of the system is intermediate riding so once you kind of get things under your belt, you begin to venture out and by connecting different trails each time, you could come up with a variety of rides, and they almost go all the way to Kenilworth and back,” explained Willis. The trail system is a wonderful way to get outdoors while still being close to the city.
