The Castle Valley Center is a unique school with some remarkable students and great faculty and staff. The school offers some very special services for their students who are from both the Carbon and Emery County School Districts. Students can range from preschool age to young adults.

“At the Castle Valley Center, we’re a little different as far as what we do during the day. Therapy is an important part of the day for many of our students. In order to attend the Castle Valley Center, there needs to be a referral, usually at a young age, prior to age three,” said Principal Mike Keller. “Physical therapy where we work with large motor skills such as walking and running. Occupational therapy where we work with fine motor skills such as pencil grasp, being able to use your fingers, your wrist and your hands.” The faculty works with the students daily so that eventually they will overcome such delays. As for the preschoolers’ faculty and staff strive to help them do what is needed so that they may attend kindergarten in their neighboring schools.

The school has a full calendar this spring as Keller explains, “We will have a Valentines Party, Valentines Dance in February and as we get into March we generally do a Talent Show which is really popular with our students. We invite their parents and the public to attend.” In April, the Carbon High and USU-Eastern Students sponsor the annual Prom for Castle Valley students. This is an opportunity for the students to dress up in their finest formal wear to participate in the dance.
