The Price City Youth Council is hosting a Childhood Cancer Awareness Memorial Walk on Saturday, September 10 at 8:00 am at the Price River Walkway. Folks are asked to be at the north end of the trail by JBs Restaurant. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Youth Council Member, Landrie Anderson to discuss all the details.

This was a two-part event that has led up to the Memorial Walk. The Youth Council held a Rock Painting event in August for folks to come in and paint rocks to help raise awareness for Childhood Cancer. Anderson explains what some rocks were painted as, “So a lot of people do names and dates, some people do positive quotes and affirmations, there’s a lot of animals that people do that remind them, things like that.” There were several individuals and families participated in this event. All the painting supplies were provided by the Price City Youth Council

These rocks will now be distributed around a tree at the end of the memorial walk. “So we’ll take the walk, its about a mile all the way through the Price River Trail and you just walk and be with everybody that shows up, everyone that comes and get to see what you have in common with each other. Then we’ll make it down to the end of the trail, at the other parking lot, and there’s a tree with rocks around it from last year. This year’s rocks have been added to that memorial and you get to go find your rock, and look at all of them that have been put out,” stated Anderson. This is a great way for folks who are going through or have gone through Childhood Cancer to get to know one another.

If you have any questions about the event, you may contact Price City. “They can call Price City. We have an email and now we have a website that works that you can contact us from there or our Instagram,” said Anderson. The Price City Youth Council is a great organization that gets involved with the community
