Come out to the Shooting for Senior Safety Turkey Shoot on Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 am at the Helper Gun Club. The competition is open to all skill levels. Event organizers, Jaimee Tolich and Dustin Webster stopped by the KOAL 103.9 FM News Room to talk about the event.

“We are going to do a turkey shoot and its $10.00 per round per person and then we also have different sponsorships for individuals or businesses,” said Tolich.  All shooters will have the opportunity to participate in multiple rounds throughout the competition and turkeys will be awarded to the winners.

Sponsorship packages start with a Bronze at $99.00, Silver is $100.00 with one participant ticket, Gold is $150.00 with two participant tickets and finally the Platinum package is $200.00 with three participant tickets. Tolich continued, “For the businesses if you sign up under our programs like we had listed the silver, the gold and the platinum, then you automatically get a couple of tickets in, so you can give them to your staff, say here’s an appreciation go out and shoot for a good cause.”

There will be an opportunity drawing at the event for everyone, tickets will be $5.00 each or 6 tickets for $20.00.

All proceeds from the event will go to help the former Health Department’s Senior Injury Program, Webster explained further, “You know the residents of Carbon and Emery County should be a little familiar with this program the Health Department did it for a long time. A year ago, two years ago it was they lost their funding for it and this is an attempt to keep that program going and keep our seniors in the community as safe as possible.”

The funds from the event will be managed through the United Way of Eastern Utah and will assist in the purchasing of safety equipment for Carbon and Emery County Seniors in their home. “Equipment like grab bars in their home, shower chairs or tub benches those types of things, could be a walker those types of adaptive equipment,” said Webster.
