Even though the community has yet to celebrate Halloween the United Way of Eastern Utah is busy preparing for their annual Angel Tree program by currently accepting applications for children in both Carbon and Emery Counties.

“We started taking them October 4; and absolutely, positively the last day will be November 17,” said Carole Wright, Director of United Way of Eastern Utah. Due to the time restraints in preparing the database with all of the participants’ information it is very important that the deadline is strictly enforced and no exceptions will be made.

Applications may be found at several locations, Department of Workforce Services, Eastern Utah Community Credit Union both the Price and East Carbon branch, Creekview Elementary and the RUCD Headstart center in Wellington.

Applications are also available online at the United Way of Eastern Utah website or click here . “They must be returned to the United Way of Eastern Utah office, unless of course you live in Green River then you take them to the PAC Center,” stated Wright. The United Way of Eastern Utah office can be found at 67 East Main Street in Price, with offices hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesdays through Thursdays.

It’s the applicant’s responsibility to complete the application in its entirety and attached the requested credentials listed on the front. If any items are missing the application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.

The crucial items to be attached to the application include copies of any and all household income received by any household member 18 and older (related and non-related). This means that paystubs must be current and include year-to-date earnings for that individual. A copy of your myCase (jobs.utah.gov/mycase) reporting the last 24 months and legible copies of picture ID for head of household.

Wright explains a new requirement this year for participating applicants, “There is a financial class that USU Eastern puts on for us so if you have been on the Angel Tree like it says for three years or more it’s a requirement that you attend this financial class.” Applicants will sign up for a class time when they submit their completed application to the United Way of Eastern Utah office.
