ABAJO MOUNTAINS: (February 26) Sgt. Ben Wolford advises anglers against further ice fishing at any of the waters in San Juan County, including Kens Lake. There’s open water along the edges, and the ice is slushy. Anglers are strongly advised to wait for ice-off.

CLEVELAND RESERVOIR: (February 26) The ice around the edges may be weak and the surface of the ice may be slushy on warm days. Please observe ice-fishing safety precautions.

ELECTRIC LAKE: (February 12) Anglers who can access the entire reservoir on snow machines can hook some tiger and cutthroat trout in the 15- to 17-inch size range. Based on creel survey data, anglers will find most cutthroats in the 15- to 16-inch size range with a maximum of 18 to 19 inches at the top end. Cutthroats will be more common than tigers, which get up to 22 inches. White, chartreuse or yellow tube jigs or curly tail grubs, tipped with worms or chub meat is recommended.

GIGLIOTTI POND: (February 26) The ice-fishing season is over. As the shoreline opens, anglers will find rainbows that were stocked last fall. Worms and PowerBait are recommended.

HUNTINGTON CREEK: (February 26) The creek below Electric Lake Dam offers good fly fishing for those who are willing to brave the cold and ice. For safety’s sake, fish with a buddy. Use split shot to weigh down nymph patterns. Many of those patterns have been effective for anglers.

HUNTINGTON NORTH RESERVOIR: (February 26) State Park Manager Jonathan Hunt warns anglers against ice fishing. The shoreline has opened, and the ice is unsafe.

HUNTINGTON RESERVOIR: (February 26) Expect soft edges and a layer of slush over the ice cap on warm days. Please observe ice-fishing safety precautions.

JOES VALLEY RESERVOIR: (February 26) On warm days, water and slush may cover the ice, and the edges may be soft or open. The ice has been as much as 12 inches thick. The biggest danger lies in accessing and exiting the ice. Avoid Seeley Creek Bay and the zone surrounding the Lowry Water inlet due to weak ice. Anglers should be aware of and practice all ice-fishing safety precautions.

KNIGHT-IDEAL COMMUNITY FISHING POND: (February 26) According to Wellington Councilman Terry Sanslow, the pond remains frozen. It will stay closed to fishing until the spring thaw.

LA SAL MOUNTAINS: (February 12) All La Sal Mountain lakes are inaccessible. Kens Lake is frozen and primarily used by ice skaters.

MILLER FLAT RESERVOIR: (February 12) Depending on the weather, surface ice might be slushy. Snow blankets the ice sheet. Fishing success ranges from slow to fair. Jigs, tube jigs and bait have been popular.

MILLSITE RESERVOIR & STATE PARK: (February 26) State Park Manager Jonathan Hunt reports unsafe ice conditions. The ice-fishing season is over. Safe shoreline fishing will be available in a short time.

SCOFIELD RESERVOIR: (February 26) The shoreline may be soft or even open on warm days. Anglers should be prepared for the possibility of soft, weak ice and be particularly careful when accessing or exiting the ice. The ice cap will be capped with slush, so rubber boots are recommended. Please observe all ice-fishing safety precautions.
