It’s not all about SAGE testing at Wellington Elementary; they actually have some really exciting school activities planned where parents are invited to attend with their students.

On Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 pm at the Carbon High School Auditorium a Spring Music Show will be presented for free for families and the community. “This is a performance that is being brought to us by our musical majors, which is a performing group of fourth and fifth grade students at our school; they are led by Wendy Grant. We also have a class, a musical theatre class with fourth and fifth grade students and they are going to be part of this show,” said Principal Stacy Basinger. “You will have a smile on your face throughout that show, they are just so cute.” A third grade class is also schedule to perform at the evening’s event.

The Wellington PTA will be hosting their Spring Book Fair on Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13. “It’s always a favorite book fair because its buy one, get one free and you just can’t beat a deal like that, so next week, all next week we will be having that book fair at our school before and after school,” stated Basinger. Rewards points from books sales help supply books in the classrooms.

In conjunction with the Book Fair, the PTA would like to invite parents to the Parents and Pastries activity. Basinger explained, “Parents can come with their students at 7:15 and enjoy a pastry, do some reading in the library and the book fair will also be open so they can stop in and maybe pick up a book or two.” This is a great way for parents to motivate their students into reading.

The school has been working all year long on various character skills. Last month students worked on and were recognized for “hardwork” and this month’s focus is “our personal best” which will go hand in hand with this month’s SAGE testing.
