May is Archaeology Month and the Prehistoric Museum will be participating with two lectures in the museum classroom and a Family Activity Day event.

The first lecture is May 3rd at 7:00 pm. The lecture is titled, “Rock Art of the Utes in Nine Mile Canyon and Beyond” By Layne Miller.

The second lecture is May 6th at 7:00 pm and will be a Paleontology double feature “Why Giraffes Have Such Long Necks” and ” Why Elephants Are So Small” lectures by paleontologists Mathew Wedel, Western University of Health Sciences, and Mike Taylor, University of Bristol.  Both of these short talks will focus on the long-necked Sauropod infraorder of dinosaurs.

The lectures are FREE and the public is encouraged to attend.

Family Activity Day will be Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be FREE admission to the museum all day. Kids activities from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

A telescope will be available in the Peace Gardens for those with an adventurous nature as well as other activities and demonstrations.
