Teams have been busy hosting various fundraising events over the last month preparing for the event.

Individuals who were not able to sign-up on a team still have an opportunity to come contribute to Relay for Life through numerous events/competitions that will be held throughout the day. Ruth Metzger an event organizer spoke about a few of the day’s events, “Castleview Hospital is putting on a Five Alarm Chili Cook Off, if you’re interested and haven’t registered. I believe there is a few spots open and you can call Jennifer Passarella Sanchez at 435-299-9532.”

Community Nursing Services will host a Poker Run that will begin and end at the Relay for Life Event at the Carbon High School track. For more details on the Poker Run call 650-1346.

Metzger talked about another fun event, “An event that we haven’t had at Relay for a long time is a Dog and Cat Beauty Contest. This is I believe early in the morning, fairly early in the morning, so it will still be cool enough that your pets won’t get over heated.” For questions and/or more details contact Kira (k-ear-a) at (801) 664-4128.

Other events schedule during the day is a Tug of War competition, Mr. Relay Pageant Contest. Metzger added, “There is various teams that will have things for sell and activities all throughout the day. So come, bring your money, support the activities and the fundraising that they are doing.” All the proceeds raised for Relay for Life truly make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Relay for Life events are for all ages in the community. Metzger finished with, “We would love to have you, something that is going on during Relay is a kids yard with bouncers and a slip and slide, games and face painting for the kids.” The community is urged to come together to honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost at the event.
