Carbon County Recreation has several fun-filled events planned for Price City’s International Days celebration taking place on Thursday, July 28 through Saturday, July 30.

Alaena Fryer, Program Director spoke about the scheduled events, “Pretty much all of our events will be on Saturday. So the first event on Saturday is our 5K race, all proceeds are going to the United Way. They are trying to get donations for their, I think they call it their backpack fund, so they are asking for donations for school supplies.” The Run with Scissors 5K event will help fill backpacks for Carbon and Emery School kids in need. Donations can range from pencils, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, note books, pencil boxes, markers and of course any additional donations of school supplies are greatly appreciated.

“The 5K if you register by the Wednesday before so if you register by the 27th by 5:00 pm you get a t-shirt and that is $15.00 or there is a family price of $25.00 and that does not include t-shirts, but you can purchase t-shirts for $8.00 a shirt,” said Fryer. “You can come down and register or we do have online registration now, you can go to www.carbonrec.com just look for the 5K races and you can do all of it online.” Individuals can sign up the day of the race at 7:30 am but event organizers encourage early registration. The race is set to begin from the Aaron Jones Dorm parking lot on the campus of USU Eastern at 8:00 am.

The climbing wall will be set up on Friday during Kids Day at Pioneer Park from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm then it will be relocated to Washington Park on Saturday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm for spectators to enjoy.

Also happening on Saturday will be a doubles horseshoe tournament with registration to begin after the parade and tournament is set to begin around 1:00 pm. The cost to participate is $10.00 per team.

Local basketball enthusiasts will have a great event to participate in as Fryer explains, “We will do a three on three basketball tournament and registration for that will start at around 11:30 am – 12:00 pm. It is $20.00 a team and it is three on three and we’ll take any age, if we get enough we will split them by how old they are.” This event will be held at the new basketball courts in Washington Park.
