The cold case of Loretta Jones is finally resolved after hard work and dedication as Wood explains, “The definition of grit in my opinion it ought to have David Brewer’s picture next to it in the dictionary. He has stayed with that case we have now extradited our suspect back to Carbon County and he’ll stand trial here now.” Final court proceedings to convict/sentence Thomas Edward Egley could take as little as 90 days if there are no foreseen issues that come up.

The detectives worked tirelessly with family members of Loretta Jones for nine years to help them find and get some sort of closure in this horrible act of violence against their loved one. “With all the other things that goes on in an officer’s day to stay focused on one case for that long is amazing. I just can’t commend Brewer and his team enough,” stated Wood.

School is in session and the roads are busy with parents and busses transporting students to and from school, add to this mix young teen drivers who seem to get easily sidetracked when they are behind that wheel. “Distracted driving is dangerous. You’ve got time to get to your destination before you have to answer a text or even the phone for that matter,” said Wood. If a text or call is so important pull over into a parking lot rather than off to the side of the road because that can cause some distractions for other drivers.

Wood spoke about some helpful hints that relate to the Carbon High parking lot, “Stay out of the red zones. The red zones are for emergency vehicles, fire trucks, police vehicles. Don’t linger and park near the red zones because you could be hindering that and the odds of you getting a ticket are good. But if you can find a parking space that you can pull all the way through, pull through where you can drive out without having to back out. You know the high school parking lot gets quite congested. Come to school ten minutes early to avoid the congestion in the parking lot and leave five minutes.” Parents should take that time to speak with the young drivers about these helpful hints from the Sheriff.
