The Emery Spartans continued the track and field season as they participated in the Juab Invitational at Yuba State Park Wednesday afternoon.

Despite a first place finish from Chase Christiansen, the Emery boys team finished in third as they accumulated 60 points. Skyline finished in first with 56 points, followed by Richfield who was one point better than Emery. Salem Hills and North Sanpete rounded out the top five.

Christiansen finished the race with a time of 18:02.3. Keldan Thompson helped pace the Emery bunch with a sixth place finish, followed by Tanyon Allred’s eighth place nod. McKay Meccariello ended in 16th and Daryl Guymon finished 29th.

While the Lady Spartans did not place as a team because of numbers, Erin Hurst delivered a 13th place finish with a time of 21:21.0. Allyson Woolsey finished 44th out of 82 participants. Kately Hurst ended in 50th and Tarryn Parkins 51st.

Wednesday’s meet is the only competition of the week for the cross country team. The next time the Spartans compete it will be at home on Sept. 20.
