Playing host the Emery High School Invitational the Spartans cross country team delivered a phenomenal performance with individual first place performances on both the boys and girls side of the track Wednesday afternoon.

The Emery boys eased their way to a victory accumulating 19 points, compared to 55 by second place Manti. San Juan, Gunnison and Pinnacle followed in the field of five. The Lady Spartans ended in third place as they finished with 59 points, topping only fourth place Pinnacle. Manti scored the win with 27, followed by San Juan.

Chase Christiansen posted the top time of the invitational, finishing the course in 16:57. Fellow Spartans Ty Funk, McKay Meccariello and Tanyon Allred rounded out the top four, giving Emery an easy overall team victory.

Erin Hurst finished with the top time on the girls side of the track, completing the race in 19:42. Belle Bowers was the next highest finishing Lady Spartan, coming in 13th place with a time of 22:59. Katelyn Hurst, Emily Ussery and Tarryn Parkins all delivered top 15 performances, finishing 13th, 14th and 15rh respectively.

Emery will continue the cross country season when they travel on the road to North Sanpete next Thursday.
