The Joe’s Valley Bouldering Festival is set to take place October 6 through October 8 with several activities for the entire family to enjoy. The main hub for the festival will be at the Emery County Recreation Center located at 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale.

Adriana Chimaras, an Event Host spoke about the festival, “The subtitle to the festival is Climbing Clinics and Community and it is just that, so the first day we are having some yoga, this year we threw in some local artists and clinics. We are also doing a Legends and Lore, which was really fun last year at the San Rafael Museum.” There will be yoga in the park set to begin at 1:30 pm and lead by Rebecka Cooper who is a member of The Front Climbing Club. Also scheduled is the Cowboy Games/Mini Rodeo at 6:00 pm at the Blue Sage Area, where individuals along with the climbers with try to ride hides, chase chickens and more. There will be Ghost Tours presented by the Emery High School Drama Department at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm, the cost is $5.00 per person. The evening will finish with a free Opening Party at 7:30 pm at the recreation center with live music and food.

“Saturday morning bright and early we’ve got some breakfast being served by R Pizza, then we are going to go right in to our climbing clinics. We have some pro-athletes coming out for some paid clinics that they’re taking people out into the canyons for and then we also have some free Meet Ups that I’m really excited about,” stated Chimaras. Both the Climbing Clinics and Meet Ups will begin at 9:00 am any interested individuals will need to meet at the Emery County Recreation Center.

“After those Climbing Clinics and Meet Ups then we are going to come back into town for the Trade Fair where we are going to have some booths and vendors, some more food, a happy hour with the pro-climbers, and later on that evening we will have some live music,” said Chimaras. Yoga in the park will again be offered at 3:00 pm at the Orangeville City Park, with another session of Ghost Tours at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm by the EHS Drama Department.
