The Carbon Dinos dominated the middle innings and produced their most outstanding offensive showing of the year to top the Juab Wasps 10-6 Friday afternoon at home.

Following a double-header split on Tuesday, the two teams were battling for the upper hand in the season series. The win moves Carbon into a first place tie with the Canyon View Falcons after the first week of league action.

Gavin Robinett recorded the win the hill as he allowed just one earned run in four innings of work. Jaxon Leonard worked the final two frames in a relief effort to close out the highly important league contest.

Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first inning, the Dinos took the lead for good with a three run stretch in the second frame. The offense continued to roll by adding three more in the third, and in the fifth. The 10 runs scored was the most by the Dinos since March 11 in a win over Payson.

Kameron Gunter posted three of Carbon’s 13 hits, finishing 3-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Jayden Flemmett ended 2-4 with one RBI, while Chase Morgan and Ty Anderson also finished with two hits.

Now 2-1 in Region 12 play, the Dinos will continue the season by playing three games in two days against the Richfield Wildcats. Tuesday the two teams will meet in Richfield for a double-header beginning at 3:00 p.m.. The season set will come to a close on Wednesday when the series shifts to Carbon.
