The Carbon Lady Dinos completed their third golf competition in eight days with a third place Region 12 finish at the Carbon Country Club golf course Thursday afternoon.

Laini Davis led the Lady Dinos with 26 points as the team finished with 96 total. Juab finished the meet in first once again, this time topping Richfield by two after scoring 116 points. Canyon View and North Sanpete completed the field of five.

“We got our first win, got a good look at our potential, in North Sanpete and just went blah at home,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “It has been quite a week. I have nine great young women, who impress me every day.”

Individually Aubrey Fausett scored 24 points, while Gwyn Kardelis and Jordan Bianco both finished with 23. Only the top four scores from the six-girl squad are counted towards the final total in Region 12 matches.

Tuesday took the Lady Dinos to Sky Mountain Resort to play in North Sanpete’s 9 hole region match. The tournament was almost called, because of snow. Carbon placed second at 126 to Juab’s 144, while Richfield was third at 118 points.

Thursday of last week the girls participated in an 18 hole head-to-head match against Spanish Fork at Spanish Oaks Golf Course. Carbon edged Spanish Fork 221 to 219, in the cold and rain. Aubrey Fausett led the team with 59 points, Indie Gardner and Sam King both made 55 and Laini Davis 52, for Carbon’s first win of the season.

The Lady Dinos will return to the golf course on Wednesday as they travel to Cedar Ridge, the home course of the Canyon View Falcons. The 18 hole tournament is the region finale, setting the stage for the state championship tournament on May 18.
