The Carbon Dinos dropped its third consecutive game to the Canyon View Falcons in the Region 12 finale Friday afternoon in Cedar City.

After scoring one run in the top of the first inning, the Dinos allowed two runs in the first and second in the eventual 11-5 loss. Canyon View scored seven runs in their final two at bats to create enough space to complete the season series sweep.

Chase Morgan was hit with the loss on the hill, allowing nine hits and four earned runs in five innings of work. Jaxon Leonard and Jadon Robertson worked relief for the final outs of the contest.

Offensive production was not an issue for the Dinos as they accumulated 11 hits, the same amount as Canyon View. Errors once again plagued Carbon as they committed four, compared to just one for the Falcons.

Gavin Robinett scored two runs and finished with two RBI as he finished 2-4 at the plate for Carbon. Morgan notched two singles in four attempts at the plate, also registering two RBI. Jayden Flemmett also finished 2-4, knocking an RBI double.

Friday’s loss dips the Dinos to 7-5 in Region 12 play, putting them just behind the Juab Wasps for second place in the division. While Carbon’s league season is complete, Juab will meet Canyon View in a three game set beginning on Tuesday. If Juab wins one of the three games the Dinos will remain the No. 3 seed. A Canyon View sweep would elevate Carbon to the No. 2 seed.

The Dinos will return to the field one more time before participating in the state tournament this Wednesday at home in the annual Alumni game. The game will consist of ex-Carbon and Helper American Legion players against the current Carbon squad. The seniors of this year’s team will be honored before the 7:30 start time.
