Turnover problems plagued the Carbon Dinos in a 41-6 blowout home loss to the Grantsville Cowboys Friday evening.

Trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Dinos gave up 35 points over the following two en-route to the team’s seventh loss of the season. Throughout the contest Carbon committed five turnovers; four interceptions and one fumble.

Carbon’s Nate Olsen led the way for the team offensively with 101 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Collin Lewis carried the ball nine times for 30 yards. As a team the Dinos accumulated 184 yard throughout the game.

Grantsville senior quarter quarterback Coy Johnson completed six of 12 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The majority of Grantsville offense came on the ground as Gage Schmidt and Justin Richardson combined for 127 of the team’s 216 rushing yards.

Friday’s loss moves Carbon to 0-7 on the season, which puts them in last place, one game behind Emery and Judge Memorial, in the 3A North. Next the Dinos will travel to Morgan on Friday for the first of two straight road games to end the regular season.
