Pinnacle baseball handed Draper APA a 7-1 loss in the opening game of their 2019 campaign.

The Panthers jumped out to a three run lead in the first inning and added three more runs in the third and one run in the fourth on their way to their first victory.

Senior Christian McLean had a dominating performance with a one run complete game giving up no hits, while walking two and striking out twelve.

On the offensive side the Panthers scored early and often. Junior Stetson Motte had two hits in three at bats with one run and three RBI’s. Senior Shayden Christensen added one hit with one run and an RBI, while senior Isaac Arellano gave the team two hits and one run. Sophomore Michael Schmitz had two runs, junior Mikey Vigil and senior Logan Kepl each added one run to round out the scoring.

Coming off last seasons’s 12-15 record which saw them go 4-10 in conference play and then going 1-1 in the state playoffs losing 7-1 to Piute. Pinnacle is looking forward to a fresh start this year.

With new head coach Jim Miller taking over this season, the Panthers will begin 1A south region play on August 14 at Panguitch and then one week later on the 21st, Pinnacle will have their first home game of the season as they welcome Green River.

The Panthers will take to the field again on Thursday August 8th when they travel to Springville to take on Merit Academy.
