The Carbon High School Theatre Arts department is excited to present their first production of the school year in November entitled Disney’s Newsies, The Broadway Musical. This show will take place in the auditorium at Carbon High at 7:00 pm on November 19 through 23 and November 25, with an additional matinee on November 23 at 1:00 pm.

“Well Newsies, The Musical is actually based on a historical event back in 1899 which was call the Newsies Strike. If people remember history in 1899 there was a lot of child labor and a lot of people that were just were really under the gun to make money. The Newsies said, we’re done. The newspapers raised their prices to the Newsies so they went on strike,” explained Director Steve Pay. The cast was chosen on August 23 with 65 students cast in the production.

A new way to purchase show tickets has been implemented this year as Mr. Pay explains, “We’ve had some increased numbers that come to our show and we’re trying to get rid of some of the longer lines and people just having to come early, stand in line and wait. So we’ve gone to a reserved seating situation where its just like you go to any theatre and you can pick your seat before you ever go to the theatre, you pay for it online, your done, you get your ticket printed and you walk in the door, hand it to the usher, go sit down and off you go.” The reserved tickets must be purchased online at https://showtix4u.com where you will look up the show title, then look for the production at Carbon High School, choose your date you want to attend, then you will find the seating chart to pick your seats. Reserved ticket prices are $7.00 Adults, Students (13 to 18 years old) $6.00 and Children (12 year and under) $5.00.
