The Green River Pirate baseball team had won three of their last six games and were hoping for another win coming off of a victory over Pinnacle last Friday. Unfortunately Diamond Ranch Academy had a different thought, as the Pirates would fall 10-0 on the road.

The Pirates (4-10 overall and 3-6 in region) had no answer for Diamond Ranch (12-4, 7-2) who is currently #2 in the most recent RPI rankings statewide. With only four games left the Pirates are sitting at #10, with the playoffs set to begin October 4.

At the plate the Pirates were able to collect four hits from juniors Peyton Romero and Rad Hughes, sophomore Gavin Anderson and senior Axel Anguiano.

On the mound senior Sam Corrigan went four innings giving up six hits, two runs both earned while walking one and one strike out. Senior Preston Marshall would go one inning surrendering five hits and seven runs all earned and Anguiano would go just over one inning with four hits and one earned run.

Up next for Green River is a home match-up with Valley (13-4, 7-3). These two teams met at the end of August and Valley came away with the win 19-2.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.. Check back with Castle Country Radio for results of this game when they are available.
