The Pinnacle Panthers volleyball squad were in Wendover for a tournament over the weekend, and while they started strong they finished with a record of two wins and three losses.

With wins against Dugway and Wendover on Friday the Panthers made noise early but Saturday was another story losing matches against Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s, Tabiona and St. Joesph.

Here is a rundown of all the weekends matches:

Game 1- Dugway: 25-23, 12-25, 15-7- Win 2-1

In the first match on Friday the Panthers were led by senior Stephanie Sasser, junior Destinee Andrews and sophomores Samantha Kessler with one kill each. Junior Jacee Atwood added 10 digs and junior Angel Welch had two assists.

Game 2- Wendover: 25-22, 26-24- Win 2-0

Game two would be a straight set victory over host school Wendover. Sasser would once again lead the team with six kills and Andrews would would add 10 digs while sophomore Kemery Stuckenschneider and Welch would have three assists each. This was their last game on Friday.

Game 3- Rowland Hall-St. Marks: 16-25, 13-25- Loss 2-0

Saturday morning the Panthers would drop their first match of the weekend to Rowland Hall-St. Marks, a 2A school out of Salt Lake City.

Sasser and Atwood both had one kill each as Andrews added nine digs while Welch would chip in with one assist.

Game 4- Tabiona: 19-25, 11-25- Loss 2-0

In their fourth game in two days the Panthers would fall in two straight sets to Tabiona.

Sasser would come up huge with six kills and 12 digs, while Stuckenschneider and Welch would add two assists each.

Game 5- St. Joseph: 22-25, 8-25- Loss 2-0

In the final match of the tournament they would face St. Joseph another 2A team from Ogden.

Destinee Andrews registers 10 kills in this one, while Stephanie Sasser had one kill and Angel Welch added an assist.

Up next for the Panthers is a home match-up with rival Green River on Tuesday. The Match is scheduled to get underway at 6:15 p.m..
