Gene “Geno” Manzanares, age 76, passed away on January 2, 2020, after a short battle with cancer.

Geno was born October 4, 1943 in Ignacio, Colorado to Joe R. and Lugarda Gallegos Manzanares. He was raised in Dragerton, Utah. In 1969, he married Ronda Olsen, they later divorced. Gene and Ronda had three kids, Steven, Michelle and Shane and after his retirement they were card playing and yard sale buddies.

Geno was very proud to serve in the US Marines during Vietnam,“Semper Fi”. He was a tireless worker who enjoyed working at Sears in Salt Lake and Dinosaur Tire in Price. While residing in Carbon County, he also worked at Kaiser Steel Mine in Sunnyside and Braztah Mine in Helper. Geno ended his working career as a belt technician mainly on the east coast, where he owned and operated his own conveyor and belt repair company.

Geno loved yard sales, riding his Harley, and finding any old car he might be able to fix up. He loved Bull S—ing everyone, especially his kids and grandkids.

Survived by his children, Steven (Dawn), Michelle, and Shane Manzanares; four sisters, Evelyn Vega, Patricia (Tony) Gomeza, Viola Frende, and Charlotte Lobato; plus 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Geno was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl Garcia and Eppie Manzanares; and a great-grandson, Theodore Notah Begaye.

Funeral service, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post # 3.
