The Carbon Dinos traveled to Monroe on Thursday night to open region play against the South Sevier Rams. The Dinos came out and were outscored in the first half 34-17 and the Rams would never look back taking the 74-46 victory on their home floor.

South Sevier opened the first quarter on a 17-9 run and would keep up the pace scoring 17 in the second as well. Carbon would come back in the fourth scoring 16 but it was too late as South Sevier had already accumulated an insurmountable lead of 55-30 going into the final quarter of play.

Kaleb Nelson would lead the way for the Dinos. Nelson, who has been averaging just under 12 ppg. would score a team high 17. Preston Condie and Brady Gagon both added six points  while Rylan Hart and Keenan Hatch chipped in five points apiece.

For the Rams Brandt Williams would score a game high 27. Brennen Hunt would add 19 and Landen Payne 10 in a well rounded effort that would see nine South Sevier players score.

The Dinos now sit at 5-6 on the season and #13 in the RPI rankings. The Rams are 6-6 and reside at the #10 spot.

Up next for Carbon is a match up with #4 Emery on Friday night in Price. Emery also dropped their region opener to Richfield 58-36.

The game is set for a 7 pm tip-off.
