Green River Pirate basketball is in the middle of a stretch where they have won three of their last five, most recently defeating Monticello 58-56. On Tuesday they would face the Dugway Mustangs on their home floor. Back on December 7 they faced each other and the Pirates would get the win 60-25, then again on December 17 in Green River’s gym they would take another victory 79-30. On January 7 they faced Dugway on the road and the outcome did not change.

The Pirates came out firing on all cylinders and would take a 37-21 lead in to the locker room at halftime. Coming out in the second half Green River would only give up 16 points and would claim a 77-37 victory.

Leading the way  was Rad Hughes with a game high 29 points. Weston Hatfield would drop 14 and Sam Corrigan added 13 in the victory.

For Dugway Seth Ryan had a team high 21 with Tyi Bear going for seven points and Kota Bear getting six in the loss.

Green River is now at 7-4 and #10 in the 1A RPI rankings put out by the Utah High School Activities Association.

They will next face Whitehorse in the Region 19 opener on Friday at home, game time is set for 5:30.

Next week they will travel to Price where they will face the Pinnacle Panthers.
