Duane Ross Preston, age 69 passed away May 22, 2020 from a lengthy medical condition.  He was born April 4, 1951 in Dragerton Utah to parents Herbert Duane Preston and Elma Jane Smith.  He was the eldest of seven children.  Duane graduated in 1968 from East Carbon High School. He began a lifelong career of mining at Kaiser Steel in Sunnyside Utah. Where he was proud of the fact that he was one of the first long wall miners in Utah.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 9958. Duane was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He enjoyed Harleys, old cars, women, his dogs and all things outdoors-camping, hunting, fishing, and water skiing.  He was a volunteer fireman for Wellington City and participated in many community fundraising events.

He is survived by his siblings: Betty and Craig Larson, Joseph and Lorraine Preston, Scott and Jamie Preston, Connie Preston, Danette and Jim Warren, and Hilda Preston, as well as, by his two daughters: Stacy (Stephen) Bentley of Evington Virginia, and Shana (Robert) Young of Salina, Utah.  Duane also is survived by seven grandchildren: Chelce (Trey) Smith, Bailey (Ean) Sorensen, Jaelee Turner, RJ Young, Ashley (Josh) Urwiller, Hannah (Jacob) Vashon, and Aimee Bentley as well as two great grandchildren, Dekker and Baby Vashon in December.  He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles and son-in-law JD Turner.

Services will be Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at Fausett Mortuary, 600 East 100 South, Price Utah, with a Viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and a Graveside following at Wellington City Cemetery. Friends and family may sign a guest book and share memories of Duane Preston at www.fausettmortuary.com.
