Roger Park Rowley, age 82, passed away suddenly July 25, 2020 in Spring Glen, Utah.
Roger was born July 1, 1938 in Price, Utah to George Albert Rowley and Eva Pearl Snow. He married his life-long and eternal love Janice Lance on Aug. 7, 1964 in the Manti, Utah Temple.
Roger and Janice both were the perfect example of how to treasure a companion. Their unique relationship was the finest example of patience and understanding. Everyone who knew them was keenly aware of their special bond. Janice preceded him in death, passing on Jan. 9, 2008. They are now together again.
Roger was a living example of being a disciple of Christ. He was kind to everyone, working tirelessly to help everyone he knew. He shoveled snow, ran errands, tilled gardens, volunteered at the elementary school, mowed lawns, among many other things. Roger actively looked for ways to lighten others burdens. We won’t see another one like him.
He was a masterful gardener who loved to share his bounty and knowledge with any and all.
Roger was loyal to a fault, especially to his children and grandchildren, often bragging about them and making them sound far better than they are. He was also proud of his parents and his heritage.
Roger loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of his most cherished experiences came from serving in whatever capacity he was asked to in his ward and stake. He was a young missionary in Mexico for nearly three years, spending the last nine months as a branch president.
One of the great experiences of his life was serving a full-time mission with Janice to the New Jersey-Cherry Hill mission and serving as a temple worker in the Manti Temple for well over a decade.
He loved the outdoors. He loved exploring the San Rafael Swell, hunting, and fishing. His love for the outdoors is reflected in his children’s similar passions.
Roger earned college degrees in Education and Metallurgy from BYU and the University of Utah. His career spanned from the Phelps Dodge Arizona copper mine to US Steel coal wash plant, and finally over 20 years in Carbon High School teaching Math, Spanish, and Driver’s Education.
Roger is survived by: daughter, Lisa (Brett); and sons, Roger Bryce, Spencer (Brandy), Sterling (Paula), Lane (Deanna) and Kimball; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Roger is also survived by his brother, Mason Clark (Kay). He was preceded in death by his wife Janice; parents, George & Pearl Rowley; brothers, George Albert, Le Grand Snow, Roland Fielding, & Scott Smith; and sisters, Pearl Colleen, and Juanita Rose.
A viewing will be on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Fausett Mortuary from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Also mortuary is open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Helper LDS Stake Center with a viewing one-hour prior. Unfortunately, this will be limited to family and close friends only. Interment following at Cliffview Cemetery in Price, Utah at 12:30 pm for those who would like to join. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
