Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Everett Cornelius Ekker, age 83, passed away unexpectedly July 29, 2020 at his home.

He was born June 18, 1937 in De Beque, Colorado to Charles Riter and Elora Maxfield Ekker.

Married Gwen Holt Mattingly; they later divorced.  Married Karla Dawn Blackburn in Emery, Utah on June 7, 1969.

Everett was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He grew up in Hanksville and had a special love for the outdoors, especially hunting and prospecting for uranium and gold with his family on the Henry Mountains.  Everett was a tireless worker who loved to do yardwork. His yard was immaculate and was the envy of many.  He loved tinkering in his yard and doing odd jobs for his neighbors on his yellow John Deere tractor. Everett retired as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local #3.  He worked at the Hunter Power Plant, and, upon his retirement, drove truck for Kerwin Jensen.

Survived by his loving wife, Karla Ekker, Carbonville; his children, Desiree (Terry) Nielson, Richfield, Julaine Vigil, Richfield, Robin (Farster) Velgard, Grand Junction, Shane (Tanya) Ekker, Axtell, Utah, Tina O’Neil, Helper; siblings, Gary (Maedell) Ekker, Huntington, Don (Judy) Ekker, Salt Lake City, Phyllis Blackburn, Emery, Jay (Joanne) Ekker, Green Ekker, Kerry (Tina) Ekker, Sevier, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents; son, Evan Ekker; son in law, Richard Vigil; infant brother, James; infant sister, Sadie.

Funeral service, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Emery Town Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
