The Green River High School sports season kicked off on Wednesday as the Pirates welcomed the Pinnacle Panthers to the diamond. The season continues with a meeting against Diamond Ranch Academy and then they will take part in the 1A Preview in Richfield on the 12 & 13 of August.

Led by first year head coach Devan Meadows and first year assistant TJ Hughes, the Pirates enter the 2020 campaign after finishing last season at 5-13. They will face-off once more with the Pinnacle Pirates on Friday September 4 and will finish the season on September 25 at the Wayne Badgers. The first round of the state playoffs will take place on October 2-3 with the finals taking place October 6-10 in St. George.

The Green River volleyball squad will also have two new leaders at the helm as Megan Hatt will take over coaching duties and Kira Hughes will be her assistant. They will kick off their season on Tuesday August 18 as they welcome in the Tabiona Tigers. The Lady Pirates will also be hosting the Melon Slam Tournament on September 4 & 5. On September 15 they welcome Pinnacle to town and then will face them again on their home floor on Wednesday October 7.
