The Carbon Dinos were ready to get back to business on the volleyball court Thursday night as the Emery Spartans came to town. The Dinos were up to the challenge however as they would beat the Spartans in straight sets.

Both teams were coming off of losses when they met up. Carbon had just dropped a five set thriller to Richfield on Tuesday night while Emery played Grand to five sets as well. This was the first time these two teams have faced each other this season.

In the first set the Dinos came out pumped up by the home crowd and quickly went to work taking care of business 25-15. The second set was more competitive going back and forth with Carbon taking the 27-25 victory. In the final set the Dinos finished off the Spartans taking the game 25-21 and earning the win in the match 3-0.

The win for Carbon puts them at 9-2 overall and 2-1 in region. Up next for the Dinos is a road contest with Grand on Thursday the 10. They will be back home on Tuesday the 15 when they face the South Sevier Rams. That game is set to start at 6:30.

The Emery Spartans now sit at 5-4 and 1-2 in region play. They will take to the court again on Tuesday September 8, as they travel for a non-conference match with Millard. They won’t be playing at home again until September 17 when they welcome San Juan to Castle Dale. Game time is set for 6:30.
