The Emery Spartans logged a fifth place finish in the fourth Region 12 meet of the golf season Thursday afternoon at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course.

Fresh off of a third place finish last week in Monticello, the Spartans struggled to find consistency as the team ended with a score of 364. Despite the fifth place finish, Emery shaved four strokes off of last week’s 368.

Carbon finished at the top of the leaderboard with a 327, beating second place Richfield by 10 strokes. Grand ended in third with a 342, followed by South Sevier’s 359. San Juan finished last with a 422.

Trevin Wakefield and Tayven Guymon led the Spartans as both shot a team low 88. Joey Leonard was third on the team with a 93, followed by Kavery Killpack’s 95.

While the Spartans logged a fifth place finish in the meet, they remain fourth in the overall region standings.

The season will continue on Wednesday as all Region 12 teams meet at Cove View in Richfield for the second time this season. The first took place back on August 18.
