A second trip to the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield ended with a third place finish for the Carbon Dinos Wednesday afternoon in the fifth Region 12 meet of the season.

Ending with a team score of 350, the Dinos finished five strokes back of second place Richfield. Grand earned its first team win of the season by delivering a team score of 337. South Sevier, Emery and San Juan completed the field of six.

Despite the third place finish sophomore Bode Salas again ended with the top individual score of the meet as he shot a 74. Daron Garner logged the second team score with an 89. Cole Yoklavich and Kyler Clark shot a 93 and 94 respectively to round out the four scores.

Salas’ 74 topped Grand’s Wyatt Toney by two-strokes for the top score of the meet. Emery’s Trevin Wakefield was third with an 82.

Entering Wednesday’s competition the Dinos trailed Richfield by 21-strokes for first place in the region. With three meets to go the deficit has grown to 26.

Next the six teams will travel to the Moab Golf Course, the homesite for the Grand Red Devils, on Thursday Sept. 17. The final homesite match will follow on Sept. 24 at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron.
