Trevin Wakefield shot a season low 82 to lead the Emery Spartans as the team finished fifth overall Wednesday afternoon at the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield.

Competing in the fifth Region 12 meet of the season, Wakefield managed to finish third overall individually. As a team the Spartans ended with a score of 382, placing them above sixth place San Juan.

Grand earned its first win of the season with a 337, topping second place Richfield by eight. Carbon and South Sevier ended third and fourth.

Carter Huntington, Devin Guymon and Joey Leonard all shot 100 to round out the four scores for the Spartans.

Carbon’s Bode Salas ended with the top individual score of the meet as he fired a 74. Grand’s Wyatt Toney shot a 76, followed by Wakefield’s 82.

The fifth place finish in the competition drops Emery to fifth place overall in Region 12. Trailing South Sevier by 21 strokes for fourth, the Spartans will have three more meets to make up ground.

The six teams will now prepare for a trip to the Moab Golf Club on Thursday, Sept. 17. The Spartans will play host to the meet the following week at Millsite on Sept. 24.
