The Desert Wave Pool is full of fun activities like swim lessons, lap swim, and water aerobics so it was nice to sit down with Aquatics Director, Tamara Gray to talk about these fun events.

The fall swimming lessons is set to begin on Monday, September 14. “We take a break after our summer lessons, so our fall lessons will start on Monday the 14th. There two days a week Monday, Wednesday or Tuesday, Thursday – you still get eight lessons, they run for four weeks. We do have, not as many offered, so we want you to call as soon as you can and get signed up for those lessons,” explained Gray. Interested individuals can contact the Desert Wave Pool to find out the levels and times they will be available.

The pool offers lap swimming for individuals who would like to exercise. “We have it Monday through Friday early in the morning 5:30 am to 8:00 am, and then around lunch 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, we extended that a little bit because we are still limiting it to six people, per hour. So if you call we will get your name and stuff down so you can get a lane. We offer it in the evenings as well 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We are going to start offering it 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday just to extend it a little bit more,” said Gray. The cost to do lap swim is $2.00, and seniors are $1.75.

Water aerobics is another great activity that is low impact and a great way to exercise. “We’re doing Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 am to 9:30 am and it’s a mix, we have Aqua Tabata that is really fun and catchy, and then we do it Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm,” said Gray. The cost to participate is $3.50 or you can purchase punch passes.
