The Emery Spartans played host to their one and only home golf meet of the season, finishing fourth place overall at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron.

Richfield played lights out as they ended at the top of the standings with a 308. Grand finished in second, topping Carbon by 13 strokes with a 320. Emery gained eight strokes on South Sevier who finished fifth just ahead of San Juan.

Trevon Wakefield continued to improve his score as he shot a 78 to lead the Spartans to the fourth place finish. With only one meet remaining, Emery now trails South Sevier by only 15 strokes.

Tayven Guymon was second on the team as he shot an 87, followed by Joey Leonard’s 89. Kade Larsen recorded the team’s fourth score with a 91.

Thursday’s meet was the final competition at a Region 12 school’s home course. With the state championship looming on Oct. 7, the teams will face each other one more time on Monday at Round Valley in Morgan.

Round Valley will also be the site of this year’s state championship, giving each competitor one more opportunity to play the course before the season finale.
