The Carbon Dino tennis team made the trip to Richfield for the Region 12 championships. All players punch their ticket for the 3A State Championships taking place this weekend.
In the first round Carbon won all matches in straight sets. Lindsey Snow, Lizzy Blackburn and Nicole Swasey had victories on the singles side while the doubles teams of Alex Cartwright and Kaydance Scovill and Ana Maria Olivas and Alyssa Ellis defeated two teams from Grand High School to close out the first round.
In the next round Carbon would suffer losses in No. 2 singles as Lizzy Blackburn fell to Kyla Jackman of Grand. Nicole Swasey would fall to Stella McGowan from Grand as well. Both doubles teams would drop their matches in round two as well. Cartwright/Scovill feel to the team from Richfield and Olivas/Ellis dropped their match to the South Sevier team.
Lindsey Snow would fall to Sarah Utley in the final round to take second place overall in region.Lizzy Blackburn defeated Gabby Carter from South Sevier in straight sets to claim third place and Nicole Swasey fell to Hannah Gay from South Sevier to take fourth place.
On the doubles side Alex Cartwright and Kaydance Scovill lost to Morgan Blackburn and Aubree Robinson from South Sevier for fourth place and Ana Maria Olivas and Alyssa Ellis defeated Megan Hess and Aspen Taylor from Emery to earn third. As a team took 3rd place in region behind Richfield and S. Sevier
The 3A State Tennis Championships will be held at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City this Friday and Saturday October 2nd & 3rd.
