It’s that time of year for folks to think about getting Flu Shots and Southeast Utah Health Department took time to come into Castle Country Radio to talk about all the details.

“So this year we have plenty of stock of flu shots. We are giving them now and it’s a great time to get it. We would like people to get it in the month of October if possible. We will have them through January. A flu shot is a great thing to get it helps build your immunity towards the flu, its helps people stay well during the season, we really like to encourage that,” said Nursing Director, Sara Braby. Its very important that those high-risk individuals seriously think about getting their flu shots immediately.

The flu shot does not necessarily prevent the flu but does prevent the amount of time that you may come down with the flu. “So it helps to kind of kick your immune system in to where your building the immunity towards the strains of flu that they kind of build the flu shot after they track those strains. So if you, some people say they get the flu, they’re either getting a different strain or like you said it can cut down on the time and you just won’t get as sick,” stated Braby.

The Health Department offers Flu Shot Clinics for individuals and families to come in. “So in Carbon County we do them every day, Monday through Thursday 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. We do have a Flu Hour right now that we’re kind of promoting where you can come between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to get your flu shot. Then we have our other vaccinations available during 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm also; we can do flu shots through 4:30 pm or make an appointment. Call our offices we’re happy to have people come in early,” explained Braby. The hours for Flu Shots in the Castle Dale office are done on Mondays from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and they also accept appointments.
