The Friends Board for Carbon and Emery Children’s Justice Center was thrilled to host the 2020 Christmas Tree Regalia this year. Although, they had to comply with some COVID restrictions the entire event went off without a hitch. This event is held each year to help raise funds for the Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Carbon and Emery Counties.

“It is a fundraiser; the Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Carbon and Emery Counties are committed to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. So we are the fundraising arm for the Children’s Justice Center and we provide them with any of that operational costs that they are unable to meet during their year,” said Coordinator, Connie Hamilton. The funds are earned from the bids on the Christmas trees that were donated by various businesses and families. The money earned from the Christmas tree bids are what helps cover those expenditures the CJC endures.

The bidding of Christmas Trees was done differently as the entire event was held inside various downtown businesses rather than at the Event Center. “We weren’t quite sure how the bidding was going to go doing everything online. We were trying to be, like I said, in compliance with COVID and do everything online. So people would view the tree, there was an online site that they could visit and make their bids. We did this through Facebook. We’ve got a different siting planned for next year, just a little bit different,” explained Hamilton. Most of the businesses were excited that the Christmas Tree Regalia was held downtown this year as this gave guests an opportunity to do some shopping while looking at all the trees. The winning bids had their trees delivered to them on the Saturday before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Overall, the event was a huge hit and would not be possible without the help of so many. “Our board, we have 15 members on our board, and we couldn’t do this without everyone participating. The downtown merchants, my gosh, every one of them, were so gracious about, we’d love to host a tree, anything we can do to help. Price City was amazing with helping us with utility bills for the vacant buildings, as well. The whole thing was just a pleasant experience, it really was,” stated Hamilton. The Friends Board for Carbon and Emery Children’s Justice Center is looking forward to hosting the event again next year. They aren’t sure whether they will continue the event downtown or return to the Event Center next year.
