The Carbon Dinos used a defensive clinic to blow past the American Leadership Academy Eagles 76-49 Wednesday night at home in a non-region contest.

Playing for the second consecutive night the Dinos showed no signs of fatigue as they dominated the first half play. Holding a 41-21 advantage at the break, Carbon continued to roll on both ends of the court over the final 16 minutes to improve to 8-3 overall on the season.

One night after scoring a team-high 15 points in a win over North Sevier, senior Caleb Winfree scored seven points in each half to finish with 14. Both Merrick Morgan and Preston Condie also ended with 14 as Carbon delivered a balanced offensive attack.

Senior center Keenan Hatch also crossed the double-digit plateau as he finished with 11 points. Jordan Fossat led a solid bench performance with eight points.

American Leadership struggled to find consistency offensively throughout the evening, but the one bright spot came from center Colton Davis as he produced a game-high 21 points. Caden Reichner helped push the sporadic Eagles with 11 points.

Entering Wednesday’s contest ranked No. 6 in the latest RPI, the Dinos now have their second three game winning streak of the season.

The busy week for Carbon will come to a close as they travel Friday for the first of two meetings with the Emery Spartans. While Carbon enters on a winning streak, the Spartans have lost six consecutive, including a region tilt to Richfield.

Friday’s contest will air live on KRPX 95.3 The Peak as well as KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM. Live coverage will begin at 6:30, followed by tip-off at 7:00.
