The Emery Spartans played host to the Carbon Dinos and Grand Red Devils in a three team swim meet Thursday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.

Gathering 322 points throughout the event, the Emery boy’s team topped Grand’s second place score of 290. The Dinos ended in third with 216.

On the girl’s side of the pool the Lady Spartans were unable to keep up with the two-time defending state champion Lady Dinos, as Carbon outlasted Emery 378-320. Grand finished in a distant third with 140 points.

The Spartans received a strong performance from Elias Morris, who took home wins in three events. Morris first topped his teammates Dax Minchey and Jacob Fauver in the 50 yard free with a time of 24.89. He later added another win the 100 yard backstroke.

Morris, Minchey and Fauver later teamed up with Kyler Minchey in the 200 yard free relay to earn another with for the Spartans as they finished with a time of 1:41.18. The majority of Emery’s points came from depth scoring throughout the event.

Aubrey Guymon gave the Lady Spartans a big boost as she claimed two top finishes throughout the day. The first came in the 200 yard IM as she defeated Carbon’s Tyrca Jaramillo with a time of 2:42.43. Guymon later won the 100 yard breast stroke with with a time of 1:24.26.

Sydney Carter also finished at the top of two individual events. Her time of 28.26 was top in the 50 yard free and later added another first place nod in the 100 yard free.

Haley Guymon recorded the other individual win for the Lady Spartans as she ended the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.36.

Emery will have a quick turnaround as they continue the season Friday afternoon with a trip to Roosevelt for a meet hosted by the Union Cougars.
