The Carbon Dinos traveled to the Emery County Aquatic Center as they participated in a three school meet with the Emery Spartans and Grand Red Devils Thursday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Continuing to dominate the competition the Lady Dinos finished with 378 points to easily claim first place. Emery finished in second with 320, followed by Grand’s 140.

On the boy’s side of the pool Carbon was unable to keep pace with the Spartans, who accumulated 322 points to take first place. Grand ended in second with 290, topping Carbon’s 216.

The Lady Dinos again found success in the relay events, a tone that was set with the 200 yard medley relay. Nicole Swasey, Tyrca Jaramillo, Mia Crompton and Thalyn Lyman won the event with a time of 2:06.87.

Lyman later joined Haylie Powell, Sofia Crompton and Alyssa Chamberlain for a first place showing in the 200 yard free relay. The four girls finished the race with a time of 1:54.33 for the second relay win. Jaramillo, Powell, Lyman and Chamberlain then won the 400 yard free relay with a time of 4:18.36.

Senior Kayla Lee gave the Lady Dinos a win in an individual event as she took home the top place in the 100 yard fly. Lee’s time of 1:32.04 topped Emery’s Aspen Jensen who ended in 1:41.87.

Gabe Ibanez continued to add to his impressive 2020-21 campaign with a first place performance in the 200 yard free. A consistent performer throughout the season, Ibanez finished the 200 yard free in 2:05.46.

Camden Chamberlain, Spencer Tullis and Boyd Bradford joined Ibanez in the 400 yard free relay as the Dinos ended in 3:50.92, comfortably beating second place Emery’s time of 4:10.02.

The Dinos will now take the rest of the week off before returning to competition in Uintah on Wednesday. Carbon will compete in three meets in three days, setting the stage for the Region Championship on Jan. 28 at home.
