The Lady Pirates basketball team has found some success as of late. They are winners of three of their last four games heading in to the weekend match-up with the Escalante Moquis.

The Moquis are ranked 11 in the in the UHSAA RPI rankings and brought in a record of 4-5.

The Pirates jumped out to a quick 20-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but gave up some ground going in to the locker room up 25-18. Only scoring five points in the third they allowed the Moquis to take a two point lead in to the final eight minutes where Green River outscored their opponent by nine and claiming the 49-42 win.

The Pirates were led by a trio of seniors, Talynn Lovato led all scorers with 19 while Morgan Bastian added 11 and Rilee Lenhoff dropped in seven.

For the Moquis, Mackenzie Lyman scored 18, and Caitlyn Lyman chipped in with 11 and Carol Prows would contribute with 5.

The win puts Green River at 6-5, which puts them at No.6 in the RPI.

Up next for the Pirates is a home game against the Tabiona Tigers this Saturday the 23rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30.
